It has finally happened...retired Prince George's County Maryland Circuit Judge Graydon S. McKee III ordered a couple to split custody of their dog. Each will get 6 months of the year with the dog as part of the divorce settlement. Under the law in that state property that is in dispute is sold and the profit split. The judge did not choose to follow the usual law. Is this a step to getting lawyers for the dog (in order to protect the interest of the dog)? I am concerned that our courts are going to be backlogged by canine custody issues.
